Mothers Day Gift Guide
Every year I try to get my mom something really special for mother's day. Last year I gave her a book of picture's I've taken. For Christmas I gave her a book of pictures from her childhood. So I guess pictures are out of the question? Now I'm trying to figure out what she'd like this year. Here are some ideas I've come up with:

A Puppy Birthday
Haha, OK, Zoso is no puppy. In fact he turned nine this month! Since he's on a special diet, we couldn't get him any special treats. He's not a huge fan of toys, so that was no good. Also, he has multiple dog beds and blankets. So since we couldn't get him any physical objects, we took him for along hike in a new place. I think he really liked it!

My Beautiful City
I apologize for not posting this week. The events on Monday, at the marathon, have thrown me for quite a loop. Maybe it seems like I'm taking this a little hard. After all, I wasn't even in town when it happened - I had planned on going in to Boston, but decided to wait until after this week since it would be so crowded. But this city holds a very special place in my heart. It's where I was born. I went to grade school in Cambridge, a short hop from downtown, and starting around sixth/seventh grade, many weekends were spent gallivanting around town with my best friend. No, mom, we didn't tell you because you would have said no. It was awesome.
High school took me further away from Boston, but we all still found time on weekends and during breaks to laze around town, shopping, basically doing whatever. And then college took me back into the heart of things. My school was smack dab in the middle of Beacon Hill. My work kept me in Boston until three years ago, when we bought our little house out in the country.
But I still try to get into the city often.
My fondest memories, my best friends, my favorite views... they've all been in Boston. The idea that some jerks attacked my town on one of its happiest days fills me with the saddest, coldest feelings. I can't have my old Boston back. It's never going to be the same. But I'll never stop loving it.
Here are some of my favorite pictures I've taken of Boston:

After seeing it on Gala Darling, I decided to try out 8track for myself. Here's my first mix! Enjoy!

All the Things I Want from Romwe
I really couldn't think of a better title for this post. These are literally all the things I want from Romwe.
The store, for the uninitiated, is an affordable alternative clothing store. The clothes come from god knows where and they're made by god knows who. If you want ethically sound threads, this is probably not the store to order from. But damned if they're not cool clothes!
Without further ado, all the things I want from Romwe:

Video of the Week
I'm getting to this party a little late, but oh well. You've probably seen this already! Warning: swears. Lots of 'em.

Super Secret Spy Stuff
So I wanted to treat myself to something a little crazy, a little ridiculous, and maybe a little expensive. Sometimes you just have to do a thing, right? So I did.
That's right - I got spy glasses! It's a frame with a fancy schmancy camera in the bridge. It's also wireless (duh) and just has one button on the side.
I ordered this fabulous gadget from Photojojo, who's website I love exploring. Not just their store (which is aaaawesome) but also their blog, which tends to have fun tips for photographers.

Literally the Worst Thing Ever
According to Zoso, that is. Along with balloons and cardboard boxes, ball in a cup is the worst thing ever and he wishes it would die. He even attacked it after I stopped filming!
While The Sun Still Shines
I romped around the back yard with Zoso yesterday before the sun finally set. It was warm, but not quite warm enough. I think he had a good time - especially with Ryan being gone most of this week on business. It's hard to cheer him up when he doesn't get to hang out with who he wants to!

Fitness Is Pretty Important
I've let myself get a bit slobby lately, and it's a shame. I'm heavier than I'd like to be (have I ever been just where I wanted?) so it's time to do something about it. We used to belong to the 24 Hour Fitness in our town, but it was a really small place with a few machines and a few weights, and what I really long for is a place to swim! I'd love to hop on down to a gym with a pool and swim for hours. But there are no pools in my town, and the nearest pool I could swim in would cost me $7 each time!
Anyway, hopefully it will be warm enough to go swimming in Walden Pond again soon. Until then, no swimming. But there is a nice pond near my work where we can go for a walk or a jog when the mood grabs us. I plan on taking the beagle over this evening!
For those of you who do want a gym to go to, but haven't gotten the membership yet, here is a link to a free pass to give 24 Hour Fitness a try. They're really quite nice, and the people were awesome. I hope you give it a shot!

Adventure Day
So I realized that it's Flashback Friday not Throwback Thursday. Oops! And rather than dub this "Adventure Friday" I know I'll forget what day to do what on. Thus this is just Adventure Day! (fist-bump)
Today's adventure is pulled all the way from the year 2000! For spring break that year (I was a sophomore in high school) my parents were the best people ever and helped me go on a trip to France with a bunch of other girls from my school! How lucky was I!? It was an amazing trip and I'm just sad that digital cameras weren't really a thing back then because I would love to have 100x as many pictures. Oh well.

Things I Want (For Baby)
So it's kind of silly to have a wish list on Amazon labeled "Baby" when I'm not even pregnant, but I just can't help myself. Here are some things I've put on it recently:
I'd argue that this could be for a girl as well. Sexist labeling strikes again!

Throwback Thursday
I scanned in some more of my family's old photos, so I thought I'd share them here. I don't have the names or dates with me, so just some pretty faces:

Video Of the Week
Caldera (2012) from Evan Viera on Vimeo.
This video is amazing, beautiful, sad, hopeful, depressing... I could go on. I highly recommend it. It speaks to me on a personal level that I'm not quite comfortable sharing on my blog, but I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels that connection to it.

Cara Box
I decided to give the Cara Box a try this past month. Since I've participated in a few online gift exchanges (through Something Awful) it seemed like a nice idea. I really enjoyed picking out gifts, and received some awesome ones. However, I don't think I'll participate again because it felt like folks were too uptight and strict about the rules to the point where I received a bunch of accusatory emails when they didn't receive their gift exactly on time. Sorry I work weekends and have to do all my crap on Mondays. Sheesh.
But anyway, like I said, the gits I got were lovely!
The bunny was mine already, he just wanted to be in the pictures.
Thank you, Abby (hehe) for the lovely gifts! I really enjoyed them all!
Over all I did enjoy the experience, but I feel like it was (as with most things on the internet) teeming with drama and I don't need drama in my life.
